This rematch of their previous semi-final encounter two years ago captivated tennis enthusiasts, as they recalled the intense battle that lasted over three hours before Zverev was unfortunately sidelined by a severe ankle injury.

According to tennis news, this is the  first time that Rafael Nadal lost in the first round of the French Open. Rafael Nadal's bid for the men's singles French Open title was cut short in the opening round when he was defeated by Alexander Zverev in straight sets on Monday.

There was an abundance of anticipation for the match as Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek were all seated in the stands to witness the action. The competition was fiercely contested for a straight-sets match, with every moment where Nadal appeared to gain momentum, Zverev had a response to regain control.

Throughout the match, Nadal delivered scorching forehand passing shots on multiple occasions and excited the spectators with vigorous fist pumps in an attempt to regain control. However, a poorly executed drop shot in the second-set tie-break proved to be pivotal. Once Zverev secured a two-set advantage, the task ahead seemed like a daunting challenge for Nadal.

Zverev became only the third player to defeat Nadal at Roland Garros, alongside Djokovic (2) and Robin Soderling. Following just the third first-round loss at a Grand Slam in his illustrious career, Nadal's record at the clay-court major now stands at 112-4.
